Famous personalities in Český Krumlov

Vilém of Rožmberk (1535 – 1592) - a famous Czech nobleman and patron of the arts who owned a castle in Český Krumlov in the 16th century. William of Rožmberk was known for his support of the arts, and under his patronage České Krumlov became one of the important cultural centers of its time.


Don Julius D´Austria (1584 – 1609) – the insane left-hander of Emperor Rudolf II, who lived under house arrest in Český Krumlov.


Josef Seidel (1859–1935) – a well-known photographer who, in addition to portraits, also photographed Český Krumlov and the surrounding towns and villages. Today in Krumlov you can visit the Seidel Photo Studio Museum.


Egon Schiele (1890 – 1918) – you can admire the work of this famous painter at the Egon Schiele Art Center in Široká Street in the center of Krumlov.
